Hello

/ I’m a strategic creative communications expert living in Friday Harbor, dedicated to working with cause-driven organizations.

A Sense of Place

/ I was fortunate to grow up in a place of beauty, the English Lake District, surrounded by hundreds of miles of trails and fells open to everyone. In 1995, I first visited the majestic San Juan Islands. I was moved by the pristine landscapes and untouched shorelines but was disheartened by the limited public access.

I have continued visiting these islands over the subsequent years, and the evolution has been impressive. The transformation to nature preserves that are open to all is a gift for the community and is essential for the survival of the island’s ecosystems. Island stewards like the Preservation Trust have a vital role in safeguarding this extraordinary place for future generations.

I have always felt a connection to the San Juans as if I was coming home. That connection became clear when I learned the islands share a similar geology with the Lakes. Walking the Greywacke trail on Mt. Grant is so reminiscent of hiking the mossy slabs of Orrest Head above Lake Windermere. This personal connection only deepens my appreciation for this special place and those who strive for its preservation.

About Me

  • I’m an experienced creative director, brand strategist, and communications team leader, with a rich career spanning creative agencies in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Boston, Seattle and Portland. While working in Portland, I served as chief creative officer for the global digital agency POSSIBLE, with 1200 employees across 12 countries.

During my tenure, I spearheaded a complete rebrand of the agency, which included leading the creation of our own social network, CoLab, spotlighted in Fast Company. I thrive on innovative projects, bringing a mix of strategic thinking, design skills, and brand awareness. Notable achievements include designing converse.com, Entertainment Weekly’s first magazine app, and collaborations with brands such as Tazo Tea, National Geographic, Morgans Hotel Group, Apple Computer, Encyclopedia Britannica, Konica, Nintendo, and Paramount Pictures.

My work has earned recognition from prestigious award shows including Communication Arts, The One Show, D&AD, The Art Directors Club, Print, and Creative Review magazine. Additionally, my work has been published by the Japanese Typographic Association. I also had the honor of judging the Communication Arts Interactive Awards and received a US patent for packaging design.

The most fulfilling aspect of my career has been collaborating closely with teams and nurturing their growth. Currently, I reside and work in Friday Harbor, focusing on supporting non-profits that align with my ethical values. Each day, I draw inspiration from the beauty of these islands.
